What Makes These Nucs Unique

Unlike typical spring nucs, these colonies originate directly from our active breeding program and are designed to deliver:

• Strong brood patterns and colony buildup
• Balanced temperament and productivity
• Open-mated queens from drone-saturated mating yards
• Genetics selected specifically for long-term colony health

These nucs are ideal for beekeepers looking to establish high-quality stock with known lineage and strong performance traits.

Golden West Line Characteristics

Golden West stock is widely known for:

• Excellent brood patterns
• Gentle temperament
• Strong honey production
• High hygienic behavior
• Notable tendency toward mite resistance and grooming behavior

These queens are selected for producing vigorous colonies capable of strong buildup and consistent performance.

Caucasian Line Characteristics

Our Caucasian-line queens descend from breeder stock tracing to the Washington State University breeding program and are known for:

• Exceptional gentleness
• Strong honey production
• Ability to forage in cooler conditions
• High propolis production supporting hive sanitation
• Reliable overwintering performance

These traits make them especially well suited for northern climates like West Michigan.

Our Breeding & Mating Program

All breeder nuc queens are:

• Raised from selected breeder stock
• Open-mated within drone-saturated mating yards
• Produced using controlled grafting schedules

• Held to confirm successful establishment before release

This process ensures high-quality queens and strong starter colonies.
